The Dichotomy Beta Test ran on Windows PC from July 23 to August 13, 2026, and it was a much bigger step than the first beta. Here is a recap of what players saw, with the usual warning: everything in a beta can still change before launch.
A roster twice the size
Monotype had seven playable characters. Dichotomy had 15, eight of them new, and it was the first time players could choose the male Detective, Huginn, instead of his sister Muninn. Beta details such as each character’s element, class and role are tracked on the character pages and marked as beta data.
More to do
The beta packed in more than 40 hours of content:
- investigation and deduction scenes, where you piece clues together;
- quests that branch depending on your choices;
- new zones of Silvernia;
- horse racing through the city streets.
Combat, rebuilt
Combat changed the most. Fights now revolve around dodging and parrying, a Stamina bar and Stun buildup that opens enemies up. Bosses got new mechanics to match, and an optional combat-assist system helps players who would rather focus on the story.
The fine print
The test had no purchases, was limited to adults, needed about 34 GB of space and wiped all progress when it ended.
What came next
A month later Elementa announced a third test, Dichotomy: Retrace, to check performance on PC and mobile, and at the end of October it set the launch date: December 14, 2026.
